Many hair myths are out and about...are the allegations legit? Or complete and total false. The knowledge of basic cosmetology inhibits us to be able to make a more sophisticated guess to these allegations.
1. Hair shouldn’t be washed every day....yes and no, if ones scalp's sebaceous glands already are being overworked (result being oily), not much can be done unless consulted by a physician. A mild balancing shampoo works best to prevent oiliness. Excess washing does in fact damage, over shampooing can strip hair of natural oils and cause dryness and possible breakage. Ultimately if scalp is naturally oily, it will forever be oily regardless of being washed every day to every three days however solutions exist to tone down the excess oiliness.
2. If one shaves there head, hair will grow back thicker....the hair can only grow back healthier, if hair was naturally thicker to begin with BUT has gradually began to become damaged from hot tools or chemical damage then yes hair can appear thinner. Hacking your hair off will only make it healthier if not already, upon growing back.
3. Removing grey hair causes more grey to appear.....lets face the facts darlin, America and the world over is getting old. No matter how many greys you tear out, the result will not alter to have more grey hair. Good and rich hair color lines that have many pigments to penetrate into the hair to give more dimension and shine are the way to go folks!!! =)
